“Teach to Include” is a project created primarily to work directly with the needy young people. The activities developed in this project aim, essentially, to promote the social and school inclusion of the young people with whom we interact and the promotion of their household. We seek to achieve this goal through daily work with young people in the Occupational Youth Center, showing them other possibilities of life – through activities, visits, intercultural contacts and others; we also hold parenting education sessions for parents and the local community in general, the work will also include the implementation of the institution’s Social Store. The activities developed by Abrigo Seguro are mainly educational, the tasks of the volunteer will be organized with the intention of providing a useful range of experiences, offering the possibility to work directly with the community on the main projects of the organization, but also to participate in community activities.
Being the community of Avintes and Vila Nova de Gaia, the second largest district in Portugal, it is very important to encourage children and young people to the importance of cultivating a more equitable and inclusive society. Volunteers will help us in various activities related to “non-formal” education, through the peer-to-peer and practice ofplayful educational activities, as well as organize outdoor activities, they will develop the project you want to call , young people with fewer opportunities and at risk of social exclusion, closer to nature and with other young people and with the help of non-formal education methods, try to promote social and educational integration, volunteers will give our projects new perspectives and , at the same time they have the possibility to interact with the local community and obtain the best possible experience.
