UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

The UN Women Strategic Partnerships Division (SPD) is responsible for proactively driving the strategic positioning of UN Women and ensure that the size, sources and predictability of its resources help the organization achieve its strategic goals. The division is organized into three functional clusters: Resource Mobilization, Private Sector, and Communications & Advocacy.

Under the direction of the Director of Strategic Partnerships Division, the Operations Analyst will support the oversight and coordination of all functions related to the Division’s key activities. S/he follows up on major decisions to ensure delivery of organizational goals and financial results, including through compilation of information and analysis, handling daily operations and playing an advisory role to the Director. S/he will be responsible for maintaining and improving operational excellence and supports the analysis of results achieved during implementation of SPD programme of work.

 

Provide operational and coordination support to the Strategic Partnerships Division (SPD):
  • Provide operational and coordination support in the development, implementation and monitoring of SPD’s annual work plan;
  • Provide input and guidance on all major initiatives and problem-solving challenges to achieve the goals of SPD annual work plan, including targeted financial results;
  • Ensure effective information flow, communication and coordination across the Division on operational matters;
  • Provide technical input to coordination, management and monitoring of financial, administrative, human resources, procurement and logistical matters according to UN Women’s standard criteria;
  • Guide and implement business process mapping and the establishment of internal standard operating procedures in all areas of the Operations Team. Develop and present operational status reports.

Provide functional oversight and management support to SPD:

  • Provide technical support to the oversight of day-to-day operations, including human resource management, procurement and special projects development in support of the SPD Director’s oversight;
  • Provide technical support for the preparation of detailed annual and quarterly work-plans and monitor timely implementation of the programme activities in accordance with the current work plan;
  • Provide technical support to the development of monitoring and evaluation plans and facilitate effective monitoring and tracking of programme results;
  • Provide inputs to and coordinate the preparation of progress reports and submission to the donor and government as per their requirements;
  • Provide suggestions to optimize processes and scale new and existing processes;
  • Provide input to  the Directorate in establishing an operations business center within SPD that provides operations services to all its units in a seamless coordinated manner;

Coordinate the planning, expenditure tracking and auditing of financial resources in accordance with UN Women rules and regulations and policies and strategies:

  • Provide professional expertise and technical support to the management of office Division  financial resources;
  • Exercise proper financial controls;
  • Review and take corrective action as appropriate on audit findings;
  • Perform Manager Level 1 role in ATLAS for voucher and PO approvals.

Provide any other support to supervisor as requested.

Education: 
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, HR, or related field is required; a first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience: 

  • At least 2 years progressively responsible experience at the national or international level, in office management, operations or finance;
  • Experience providing support in staffing, mentoring and development of its personnel;
  • Experience in liaising with a myriad of stakeholders and partners, including government, civil society, international organizations and grassroots organizations;
  • Experience in working in a computer environment using multiple office software packages, experience in handling of web based management systems and ERP systems, preferably PeopleSoft;
  • Management experience in back-office support operations.

Languages: 

  • Fluency in English is required;
  • Knowledge of the other UN official working language is an asset.

In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system (DAW, OSAGI, INSTRAW and UNIFEM), which focused exclusively on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
