British Council Ukraine and Liverpool Biennial are delighted to launch their new artistic residency programme, connecting artists from Ukraine and Liverpool. This first call is for Ukraine-based artists looking to spend up to 8 weeks in a Liverpool-based residency curated by the Biennial team.

The theme of this year’s residency is ‘Imagined Worlds’, which reflects some of the ideas behind Liverpool Biennial 2016. We are inviting artists who are interested in the potential of imagined worlds to spend time in Liverpool to develop their practice, supported by a studio and research scholarship.

The selection panel is looking for ground-breaking artists whose practice complements the ethos of Liverpool Biennial. Successful applicants will be expected to produce at least one piece by the end of the residency period.

Open to professional artists who have been resident in Ukraine for at least one year.

Language Requirement: a good command of the English language is necessary (equivalent to at least B1 level).

Applicants must be at least 25 years old at the time of the residency.

Applicants must have at least one higher education qualification in a relevant discipline.

Liverpool Biennial is able to accommodate medical carers, service animals, or other medical needs. Please detail if you have any requirements in your application so we have plenty of time to accommodate your needs.
