Training Course "EastWestEVS"

Training Course "EastWestEVS" for youth workers and organisations interested in European Voluntary Service (EVS) projects within Youth in Action programme. Training organised together by British and Spanish National Agencies of Youth in Action Programme and SALTO Eastern Europe and Caucasus and SALTO Cultural Diversity Resource Centres.


Aim

TC "EastWestEVS" aims to develop competences of EVS projects coordinators and mentors in cooperation between Programme Countries and EECA region with special focus on cultural diversity and intercultural learning in EVS.

Date and Venue

TC "EastWestEVS" will take place between 1-7 June, 2009 in Moldova

Arrival till evening 1st June, Monday. Departure from morning of 7th June, Sunday.

Programme elements

    * Youth in Action Programme understanding with special focus on cooperation with EECA countries within Action 2 projects (EVS)
    * Cultural diversity and intercultural learning in EVS project
    * How to find partners
    * How to organize good project within European Voluntary Service, partnership - rights and obligations of partners, mentoring
    * Presentation of participants and organisations - Organisations Fair
    * Future Actions Planning

Additional topics

    * quality of partnerships in EVS projects due to lack of accreditation of EVS organisations in EECA region,
    * understanding of non-formal learning aspects in EVS projects with EECA,
    * EVS training cycle in EECA region as partners are responsible for it,
    * visa issues and registration of volunteer's formal stay abroad,
    * money transfers between Programme and EECA countries etc.

Participants

TC "EastWestEVS" will bring together 26 voluntary and professional youth workers, youth leaders and project coordinators working directly with youngsters, who are interested in setting up new projects within European Voluntary Service:

    * 13 participants from Programme Countries (EU + Norway, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Turkey)
    * 13 participants from Eastern Europe and Caucasus

Participants profile:

    * active youth worker;
    * ready to develop new projects within European Voluntary Service
    * active participation and contribution during the full duration of the TC;
    * ability to communicate in English;

Organisers

This Training Course is co-organised by British and Spanish National Agencies of the Youth in Action (YiA) Programme and SALTO Eastern Europe and Caucasus (EECA) and SALTO Cultural Diversity Resource Centres with support of other National Agencies of YiA.

Financial Conditions

    * The lodging, board, local transportation and international transportation of EECA participants will be covered by organisers.
    * International travel costs of Programme Countries' participants will be financed by relevant National Agencies of the Youth in Action Programme according to their internal regulations.
    * Any insurance, especially the medical is on each participant responsibility

Application and Selection Procedure & Deadline

Deadline for applications is 13th April 2009.

The selection will be carried out by the organisers and relevant National Agencies of YiA Programme. The selected participants will be informed directly by 30th April 2009.
