To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights, the Council of Europe and ELSA International have launched a competition for law students in Europe.
Under the slogan ’Our Rights, Our Freedoms’, the competition - involving a writing and an artistic section – is designed to appraise the history and performance of the European Convention and Court of Human Rights.
Participants are invited to submit an essay, assessing achievements and shortcomings of the Strasbourg legal system, or a photo reportage showing the Human Rights Convention’s impact on European citizens’ day-to-day lives.
There will be three individual prizes of 3 000€, 2 000€ and 1 000€ in the essay category, and three group prizes of 5 000€, 3 000€ and 2 000€ in the photo report category. The best entries will be published online and in print by the Council of Europe and ELSA.
The results of the competition will be announced during the ceremony marking the 60th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights to be held in the autumn in Strasbourg.
